apologies for the dusty pics LOL my jewel cases have been collecting dust for a while and i didn't have a microfiber cloth on hand to wipe it down.... also my printer ink is going out i think so that's why all my dark covers keep printing with streaks. but i mean, it's a little charming in my opinion seeing these little imperfections in my DIY stuff haha

Also, random: this particular brand of Maxell tapes is really interesting to me, and it also interests me that you're using them as well because they're the default blank tapes here. I checked on cassette comeback (above) and I checked in the tape encyclopaedia because I kind of assumed they were being made for another market who were still using tapes, but apparently the target audience is Europe? I don't where I was going with this but... yeah.

yeah i got them in different packaging from amazon here, but they're pretty much the same tapes it looks like? they seem just as common here as you say they are in europe so maybe there's just a ton of dead stock of them around the world haha. it's interesting stuff!

For like the past five years, I swear these have been the most commonly available blank cassettes, so I get the feeling they're still being made. The last time I saw these actually in shops here was probably 2010, which makes sense, but I suspect Maxell has kept making them to meet some kind of market that just... never stopped using them, and all the sellers on amazon and ebay are just buying job lots of leftovers.

I don't know why I am so invested in answering these questions. Sorry for clogging up your comments!

huh it'd be interesting if they're still manufactured! i wonder what industry still uses them if any, that has to be the motivation behind potential continued manufacturing, it can't be just for niches... unless maxell are the mysterious benefactors of r/cassetteculture and every handmade cassette release on bandcamp :P
